Sybase Sql Server – my 9 Tips
| 1) Sybase To SQL Server Migration? |
| I have few .NET applications with inline SQL statements and calls to Procedures on Sybase DB. We are planning to migrate to SQL Server 2005. Are there any tools to migrate these inline SQLs? What care needs to be taken? |

| 2) What Is The Best Way To Convert Sybase Database To Sql Server Thank In Advance? |
| Since Sybase is an SQL server it shouldn’t be too tough unless you have a very complex structure. As far as method it depends on which SQL server you are migrating too–My concern would be the changes that will have to made to the customer/user interface. I converted a small database using mysql’s migration toolkit. |
| 3) Microsoft SQL — Creating Linked Server To Sybase IQ? |
| I would like to create a linked server from SQL Server to Sybase IQ. I have created linked servers before so I know how to do that. However, I dont know the specifics of creating a linked server to Sybase IQ.
What are the parameters that are necessary to link IQ to SQL Server. Which Provider do I use? Do I need to install a special driver? |
| I found this for you : http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/1756161
Hope that helps! Sounds like fun! |
| 4) Which Database System Is Considered The Best In The Market ? Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2 Etc.? |
| For me, Its Oracle database is the best for-ever for Large and Medium Scale Business and for small scale its the MS SQL Server is the best one. Oracle enhancing their products continually, and giving support to many different Operating System vendors. and discovering lot of other features related to simplify the oracle administration, for example – Grid control,ASM,RAC,Auto Perf Monitoring, and Tuning. So oracle is the best one in the market. |
| 5) Hi,waht Is Oracle,its Use.Difference Between SQL Server.SYBASE,MY SQL,TERRADATA.Are They All Difernt Frm Oracl |
| Oracle is an ORDBMS (Object Relational Database Management System). This product provides an extensive tools for creating and maintaining the data.SQL SERVER,SYBASE,MYSQL and TERRADATA are also RDBMS tool from different vendors and they have their own pros and cons. Oracle is from Oracle Corporation. |
| 6) How To Open The Sybase Database File In Sql Server 2000? |
| in my system doesn’t have sybase .i want to open the sybase database file in sql server 2000.is it possible.if it is possible means how to open the data |
| you cannot directly open it………… however you can try importing it. Use import option in SQL Server 2000. If that doesn’t work, then you must open the database in Sybase and export it in some format that SQL Server 2000 can import. |
| 7) Which Is Better, Sybase Or Microsoft SQL Server? |
| MS SQL Server was originally derived from Sybase, I believe. I think Sybase runs on a wider range of hardware than SQL Server. What’s wrong with Oracle ? Ingres ? DB2 ? |
| |
| I have Windows XP, SQL SERVER 2000 installed Sybase PowerBuilder 9.0 and I can get access to the database thru query manager and entreprise manager but when I run my application I got a meeesage that tells me that SQL server doesnt exist or its not available or its not possible to connect. SQL SERVER doesnt exist or access to the network is denied. Any suggestions about this? Thanks!!! |
| Dude!!! here is the thing there can be several possible answer to ur question but i tell you a little 1. your connection string may have a problem that really needs to be carefully analyzed. |
| 9) How To Connect Php To Sybase Server? ? |
| is this possible? if possible, any hints or advice? here’ my code: // create connection // test connection // select database // test selection is there a need to configure my php.ini? |
| Yes you may have to configure you php.ini
Take a look at this: http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/Sybase-PHP-Apache.html Bye! |
