| DBA (Database Administrators) are always in demand. Only problem is that you cant expect too many promotions. You can rise through different expert levels L0 – L1 – L3 I would recommend starting with Oracle DBA than MsSQL. Any way SQL Server 2005 Administration is not tough. Around 30-50 hrs of classroom training and couple of months of on the job training (which is imp.) can turn you into a MsSQL dba. |

| In my opinion they are two different things. One is database related and the other operating system. Depending on your skill level, interest and background you will be able to determine which one is easier. If you have some knowledge of Unix you might be able to quickly pickup Linux and may in fact enjoy the user friendly interface that Linux offers. As far as any dba administration, if you want to manage backend operations for a SQL box you need to also understand what role the database actually plays to add value to the process. | Hello:
I am using the ASP.NET 2.0 and I am using local server –> SQL Server 2005 Development Edition. WHen I go into VIsual Studio 2.0 Professional and go to menu item WEBSITE –> ASP.NET CONFIGURATION, the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool shows. When I click on the Security link, after about 30 seconds an error pops saying Unable to connect to SQL Server database. I can connect to the SQL database via Server Explorer in VS 2005 and also via Grid Control etc but I keep getting the error when I try to connect via ASP.NET CONFIGURATION. I will greatly appreciate anyone help. Thanks! |

| Visual Studio 2008 is installed in my system and also sql server 2005… When i start up with the project in visual studio 2008 and try to connect to the sql server 2005 using data source connection wizard, i got an error saying that “An unexpected error occurred in the .net framework provider for sql server. Please contact your sql server administration”. Please help me to get rid of this.. |
| The easiest way to fix that is to go into Add / Remove programs, choose .NET Framework 3.5, pick uninstall / change, and follow the onscreen instructions to repair.
If that does not work, go to microsoft.com/downloads, get a new copy of .NET Framework 3.5, and reinstall. |
